Where is The Net meeting right now?
The Net is located at 7333 McArdle Rd. near Ennis Joslin - next door to Lord of the Harvest Church. Go to  "Contact & Directions". The Net is less than two miles from TAMUCC and the bus stop is right there!

What are the beliefs of the Net?

fundamental truths.

Can only young adults come to the Net?
Anyone can come visit the Net and it is open to the public. However,
The Net is a ministry that is doing "church" differently.  The entire ministry is geared for young adults. Our focus in outreach is to young adults starting as young as age 17 and as old as 30.  Nearly our entire leadership is made up of young adults. Suffice it is to say that it is the young adults that we really want to come. Most trips are restricted to ages 17-30.

Is The Net a singles ministry?  What about young married couples and single parents?
The Net is a young adults ministry not a singles ministry! We have found that mingling young married adults with single young adults is very healthy and creates great chemistry in the group. Young married couples have much of the same energy and love for adventure that the single young adults have. Often their natural circle of friends are still single. Young adult single parents have all of the same needs.

Where is The Net headed in the long run?
Our focus is on reaching this generation of young adults! Our desire is that the ministry will have a city wide influence on the young adult community of Corpus Christi and within the college campuses. Additionally, we hope over time to see more churches in the community find partnership with The Net . Together, cooperatively, we can work toward a "kingdom approach"  of effective ministry in the City. As far as we know that may very well be the full extent of this ministry's vision for its entire duration of existance. However, we do consider the possibility in a very distant future, that the Net Fellowship could expand or need to affiliate such that it includes the characteristics of a conventional church ministry. Were this to occur, we would still expect the young adults arm of the ministry to have an independent and inter-church style and appeal just as it does now. Our primary objective and really our sole concern at this time is to establish a strong, vibrant, and effective young adult ministry. We also are considering and prayerfully weighing planting The Net in multiple locations in communities that are concentrated with college and military populations.

What is The Net's relationship to various local churches in the community?
The Net is an independent ministry. It is not organizationally affiliated or attached to a particular local church. The young adults that come to the Net  come from many chuches throughout the city. Many young adults that come to the Net are entering into Christian community for the first time. They are encouraged to find a church that they may attend regularly on Sunday mornings. We may recommend specific churches from time to time on an individual basis. We will tend to recommend churches that are in an active relationship with The Net. We publicize our alliance churches at The Net and on our website.  These churches see the Net as an extension of their young adults ministry and are a great encouragment to the ministry. Often their pastors or staff members will attend the Net. The Net leadership has a standing policy against prosylitizing.  See alliance ministries.

Does the Net have any paid staff members?
Not at this time. Everyone that serves at the Net Fellowship does so without compensation. We do not expect that to change in the near future.

Aren't there already enough young adult ministries in Corpus Christi?
We have three college campuses in the greater Corpus Christ area (including TAMUK) that together approach 20,000 young adults. Additionally, we expect from census data that there may be another 50,000 young adults that are not in college between the ages of 17 and 30 likely exceeding a total of 70,000 young adults! These young people are fairly open to an invitation to come visit a ministry like the Net and they are also open to spiritual things at this juncture in their lives. While many of these young people have a spiritual hunger they also have an aversion to attending the conventional/traditional church. A ministry like the Net provides an open door for them to enter into the Christian faith. We believe that there are not nearly enough existing ministries in our community to meet this need, especially ministries that subscribe to an openly charismatic approach to ministry.

How is The Net funded?
Since the Net is made up of mainly young adults, we must rely on outside donations to fund the ministry as well as what the young adults can contribute. Young adults are typically not established and are just beginning to hammer out their careers. Many of them are college students. Consequently, they are very limited in their ability to support the ministry financially. Also, since the Net is not a conventional church with established tithing families, it does not have a strong income base from within. Click here to donate.

Why the name "The Net"?
"The Net" works on two levels. First it works on a modern technological level. The net is a means of connectivity. Second it works on a Biblical level. Biblically it is a means of catching fish. The church is in essence a "net". A net is a trap used by fisherman to catch fish. It is also a weave of interconnectivity expressing the church's community and body life.

In what way is The Net unique in Corpus Christi?
Nearly every significant young adult ministry in Corpus Christi is defined by a fairly tight seeker friendly/sensitive church model of ministry and are generally not charismatic. The Net seeks to blend the distinctive expressions of the power of the Holy Spirit with a progressive and culturally-friendly style of ministry. We are seeking tactful but purposeful ways to introduce young adults to a broader charismatic worship experience. This can be achieved from time to time by incorporating a spontaneous element in the meetings, seeking to "flow with the Spirit" in worship, special ministry times (ie., times of breakthrough for the sick, oppressed and troubled etc.), inviting spiritually gifted guest speakers etc. We see prayer meetings as a great time to "pull out the stops" and encourage people to step out in the gifts of the Spirit. We believe there is a need for young adults to be challenged to understand and experience the working and the power of the Holy Spirit in a broader and deeper way as described in the many references of the New Testament as seen in the ministry of Jesus and the book of Acts.

The Net is a truly independent and non-denominational young adults ministry that is not, at least at this time, attached to a particular local church or denomination but rather has a broader citywide appeal. It is autonomous much like BSM (Baptist Student Ministries) and Chi Alpha except that it extends beyond the college campus to reach all young adults. We are not aware of another ministry in Corpus Christi like this.
